  Education, Science and Technology. Studies focused on the epistemological and historical-social aspects of scientific and technological production and their relationships with education and knowledge production processes. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Public Policies and education. It refers to activities linked to the understanding of the determinants of the State's educational policy and the discussion of the role of the educator within the State and their qualifications for the functions they can perform there. It also contemplates the existing relationships between (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Human development. Study of the different dimensions of human development and the historical, social and cultural conditions in which it occurs, as well as specific aspects of certain periods of development and their implications for practice educational. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Educational Planning and Management. Studies and Research on the education system; educational planning at micro and macro levels. Autonomy and management at various levels of education. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Physical and Mental Disability. Study of physical and mental disabilities and their implications for educational practice. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Philosophy and Education. Philosophical studies on the nature of human knowledge, theories of education and different aspects of ethics and politics related to education. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Social Movements and Non-Formal Education. Analysis of the organization, structure, practices and ideologies of organized civil society groups and their relationships with social institutions: State, Church, School, etc. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  University education. Operation and organization of the third-grade education system; State policy on higher education and Studies of relations between university-State-Society. Study on the training of higher education professionals. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Teaching and Teacher Training. Studies of the different aspects relating to the training of education professionals to work at various levels of education in formal education and in the scope of non-formal education . (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  History, Society and Education. Related studies are: 1) historiography and theoretical and methodological conceptions of education; 2) thematic aspects and regional history of education; 3) comparative history of education; 4) historical and biographical studies of educational thought; 5) conditions (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Society, Culture and Education. Studies relating to: 1) relationship between society - culture and education; 2) certain cultural practices in history and education; 3) cultural constitution of the human being; 4) social-cultural differentiation (gender, ethnicity, age, culture...) and education; 5) paper (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1997).

  Education and Work.a) Study of educational processes (formal and/or informal) and their relationship with the processes and organization of work in contemporary society. The repercussions of the education-work relationship in the context of Educator Training and for what purpose (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1992) are also examined.   Education in Latin America.Analysis and comparative studies of educational policies and forms of organization of educational systems in Latin America and their social and scientific implications for the region's populations.   Piagetian Studies.Its objective is: 1) The psychogenetic study of knowledge and analysis of its formative mechanisms responsible for the development process of normal and exceptional people; 2) Analysis of the applications or pedagogical implications of genetic psychology: its significance and scope in the educator’s role.   Psychology and Mathematics Education.Study of the relationship between Psychology and Mathematics Education, with special emphasis on aspects related to: 1) formation of concepts, principles and problem solving in mathematics; 2) attitudes towards mathematics; 3) Constructivism and Mathematics Education; 4) skills, cognitive strategies and measurement techniques.
