MUSICAL CREATION. It precedes the musical composition. Research of sound/musical material; material treatment; creation of blocks and/or patterns; improvisation; observation/analysis of improvisation; redefining blocks/patterns and identifying elements leading to musical ideas, musical principles and musical procedures that constitute the composition; organization of elements; preparation of the work. This procedure of research and generation of work applies to many cases of creation: whether for *pure music* or *music in relation to other media*. The sub-lines of research address this differentiation. A fundamental characteristic of musical creation is the constant movement in the cycle *Chance - Observation - Analysis - Formulation - Destruction* or in the attitudes *Rational - Irrational*, *Raz - Intuition*, *Continuity-Discontinuity*.
