  Agrotechnology. - Acclimatization of medicinal, aromatic and exotic species.

2.
  Waste Analysis. - Analysis of intentional and unintentional contaminants in food, soil, water and air.
- Analysis of intentional contaminants of pesticide residues, for the purposes of registration, renewal of registration and extension of use of pesticides, their components and the like.
- analyzes of vitamins, sugars, pharmaceuticals and food products.
- Certification/Quality Control with issuance of technical analysis reports. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1998).

  Pharmacology and Toxicology. - Toxicological evaluation of products for the medicine, cosmetics, food, insecticides, sanitizing and pesticide industries.
- Assessments for selection of new products, toxicological classification, quality control and obtaining registration with the competent bodies (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1998) .

 
4.
  Organic Chemistry and Pharmaceuticals. - Synthesis and semi-synthesis of drugs and bioactive products from natural products.
- Development of synthesis processes for drug production on a pilot scale. - Study of essential oils: Isolation, purification, identification of constituents, synthesis and economic exploration feasibility studies.
- Development of analytical methodology for monitoring chemical reactions and quantifying products of interest.
- Technical and economic feasibility study to obtain organic compounds.
- Analysis and quality control of pharmaceuticals, foods, cosmetics, dyes, veterinary products and natural products. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1998).

  Phytochemistry. Isolation of compounds of interest from plant matter. Isolation of active ingredients from medicinal plants, monitored by biological and microbiological tests.
- Development and optimization of processes for the production of phytopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals on a pilot scale.
- Obtaining extracts for use in formulations.
- Analysis and quality control of phytopharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical and veterinary products, additives and dyes.
- Development of research to validate medicines of plant, microbiological and synthetic origin.

  Biotechnology and Processes. - Evaluation of disinfectants for use in the food and household industries. Bacteriostatic activity in finished products (household products, cosmetics). Microbiological evaluation of cosmetics, foods and sanitizers.
- Evaluation of antimicrobials used in the production of sugar and alcohol. Physicochemical analyzes of sugars.
- Evaluation of yeast strains for industrial use for the production of alcohol. Assessment of fermentative processes.
- Development of new industrial processes for the production of sugary foods and renewable fuel.
- Production of alcohol from by-products of the food industry. Development of processes for ethanol production with self-immobilizing cells. Study of population dynamics of yeast strains in fermentation vats.
- Development of alternative processes for the production of liquid sugars.
