Center for Population Studies
 
Research lines
 
1.
  Population and Environment. It examines the determinants and environmental consequences of each of the components of population growth, subject to certain environmental situations, populations in situations of environmental risk, among other approaches. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1983).
 
2.
  Geoprocessing in Demography. It aims to encourage the implementation of projects with geoprocessing applied to demography. The priorities are studies of population and health, population and environment and migration (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 2000).
 
3.
  Demographics of Ethnicities. It derives from the recognition of the importance of adding ethnic/racial aspects to the theoretical-methodological frameworks used in demography. It focuses on the specificities that whites, Afro-Brazilians and Indians present in their demographic behaviors. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1993).

  Demography and Public Policies. It brings together research that aims to produce information and guidelines for policies in the health, education, urban development and environment sectors. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1999).

  Health and Morbidity and Mortality. This line of research... (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 2002).

  Family, Gender and Demography. The themes of family and gender relations have grown in importance in studies from a demographic perspective. Gender content in family relationships allows us to understand aspects relating to inequalities between men and women. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1995).
 
7.
  Spatial Mobility of the Population. The aim is to analyze various aspects involved in migration phenomena, such as economic dynamics, the consequences of innovation and technological change, among others. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1983).
 
8.
  Reproductive Health and Sexuality. This area works with the concept that Reproductive Health is a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being in all matters concerning the reproductive system. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in 1992).
 
9.
  Historical Demography. This line of research aims to expand the knowledge of the Brazilian population from a historical perspective, focusing on the 2002th century and the first half of the XNUMXth century. (Approved by the Department/Scientific Council in XNUMX).
