Selection for scholarships and student aid runs until March 7th

Benefits are intended to guarantee the permanence of undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University

The Executive Board of Student Support and Permanence (Deape) has opened a selection process for support grants for undergraduate and graduate students. Interested parties can apply until March 7th through the Integrated Management System. (GIS) from Daepe. In addition to scholarships and grants, Deape provides students with educational and career guidance, academic mentoring, internship promotion and referrals, and psychological and psychiatric support through the Student Psychological and Psychiatric Assistance Service (Sappe) and also develops artistic and cultural projects.

Until 2023, actions aimed at student retention were concentrated in the Student Support Service (SAE), an organization established in 1976 as part of the Office of the Vice-Rector for Undergraduate Studies (PRG). In September 2023, with the creation of Deape, the services of the former SAE were transferred to the new structure. “As an executive board, we gained technical and administrative autonomy to form a staff in the most diverse areas of activity: social services, psychological and psychiatric support, internships, educational guidance, student housing program, etc.”, explains Cavalcante.

Social Assistance Grant (BAS)

The Social Assistance Grant (BAS) is awarded based on socioeconomic criteria. Candidates are classified according to their family's per capita income. The assessment is carried out by the SAE social service, through the submission of documentation and interviews with social workers. The selected students carry out activities in University projects, with guidance from professors and other professionals.

Study and Training Grant (Baef)

The Study and Training Assistance Grant (Baef) also follows socioeconomic criteria combined with academic training. The benefit is intended for undergraduate students who have completed 75% of their course and aims to support them in participating in projects related to their courses.

Transportation Assistance Benefits (BAT) e Food Tax Exemption Benefit (Bita)

Granting of two municipal passes per business day at the current price for public transportation in Campinas for one year, in the case of BAT, and free access to three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in university restaurants for students receiving BITA assistance. Socioeconomic criteria are also taken into account.

Housing Assistance Grant (BAM)

The BAM is intended for students from the School of Applied Sciences (FCA) and the School of Technology (FT) in Limeira, and the School of Dentistry of Piracicaba (FOP). In the case of students from Campinas, the BAM is granted to those who were unable to secure a place in the Student Housing. The Student Housing is intended for students from the Barão Geraldo campus in Campinas who have difficulty maintaining their own housing with their own resources, especially those from outside the Campinas Metropolitan Region. The facility has housing units with living rooms and bedrooms for four people and studios for families.

Installation Assistance Grant (BAI)

The Installation Grant is intended for students who have already received the Social Assistance Grant (BAS) and who are experiencing financial difficulties at the beginning of their undergraduate studies. The grant consists of a single payment to subsidize initial expenses.

Emergency Scholarship

Students with unforeseen financial difficulties may apply for the Emergency Grant. Each situation is analyzed individually and the duration of the grant may vary. Those eligible receive financial assistance, two daily city tickets at the current price for public transportation in Campinas, and access to three meals a day at university restaurants. During the grant period, students develop projects with a workload of 10 to 40 hours per month.
