It is with great sadness that Unicamp announces the death of architect Joan Villá on April 9. Joan Villá was responsible for the architectural projects and construction of Casa do Lago (1994), university residences (1992) and the Prodecad facilities (linked to the Division of Early Childhood and Complementary Education), among other Unicamp projects.
Born in Barcelona in 1940, Villá graduated in architecture and urban planning from Mackenzie University, specialized in urban construction at the Polytechnic Institute of Milan and completed a doctorate in construction at the Barcelona School of Architecture.
He was an innovative architect in construction techniques, bringing together an intense relationship with the urban context, innovation and avant-garde, a great capacity for experimentation, in addition to the use of advanced industrialized technologies in low-cost and highly sustainable constructions.
Villá leaves behind children (André and Fernando) and a wife (Silvia Chile).
The Unicamp Rectorate expresses its solidarity with the family and pays tribute to the memory of architect Joan Villá.
