Ceremony honors Rôse Trevisane, who retires from Cecom after four decades

Nurse leaves an important legacy in the health field focused on serving the university community

Rôse Clélia Grion Trevisane was deeply moved at the ceremony held in her honor at the Gastrocentro Amphitheater on Monday, August 4, celebrating her legacy and her retirement from Unicamp's Community Health Center (Cecom). "I'm deeply honored. Today I complete nearly five decades at the University," said the 64-year-old nurse, who joined Unicamp as a nursing student in 1979.

As an employee, Trevisane concludes a four-decade stint at Cecom, which she describes as an "extension of her home." "It seems like yesterday. I arrived at Unicamp when I was 17. It was always a dream to study and work here. I learned that leadership is, above all, service. I remember when, in April 1986, when we inaugurated the building, we didn't even have furniture," she said. "Today, I see a different Unicamp and am moved by so many advances in healthcare, technology, and ideas. Cecom has become a center of excellence, and there is no other like ours in public universities."

"Quitting work wasn't an easy decision. I'm feeling a mixture of joy and sadness," continued the nurse, who plans to "travel more and spend time with her grandchildren and family." The ceremony featured videotaped messages from her coworkers and family, as well as speeches of thanks to the mentor, friend, and advisor, whose legacy was highlighted in the remarks of her coworkers. Her grandchildren, in fact, stole the show during the messages, spreading joy and bringing smiles.

Dean Paulo Cesar Montagner recalled important moments in Cecom's history and how the nurse dealt with events such as the arrival of AIDS and, more recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. "Rôse showed us the grandeur of her work, the importance of each of us. Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine being dean and being here, at this moment, speaking in this context. Seeing this room full moves me. We are not irreplaceable professionals, but there are people who are," he stated.

Unicamp's general coordinator, Fernando Coelho, highlighted the university's pioneering role in creating Cecom and the "great privilege" of having counted on the nurse throughout this period. "Rôse is a positive leader who made things happen and leaves us with a fantastic legacy," he added.
