According to Cláudia Morelli, Provost of Graduate Studies, what stands out in this edition is the diversity of award-winning fields and honorable mentions. "Unicamp's research was recognized in seven areas of knowledge, demonstrating that the quality of the university's education isn't concentrated in just one specific area," the provost states. The areas highlighted were Food Sciences, History, Chemistry, Technology, Food Engineering, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Demography (see list below).

Morelli also emphasizes that two papers recognized by Capes are also on the shortlist for the Unicamp Outstanding Thesis Award, which will be presented this Wednesday (September 3rd). The research "Development of accessible electrochemical bio(sensors) for point-of-care applications," authored by Lucas Felipe de Lima, awarded by Capes, will also be recognized at Unicamp in the Exact and Earth Sciences category. The thesis "Development of new graphene oxide-based membranes for contaminant removal in water," authored by Tauany de Figueiredo Neves, on the Capes honorable mention list, will also receive the Outstanding Thesis Award in the engineering and technology category.

The provost believes that Capes' recognition reaffirms the University's commitment to excellence in graduate education. "The Capes Award, with its scientific, technological, and cultural significance, demonstrates that we are achieving positive results in our work."

In the case of Capes, the selection of theses considers criteria such as originality, scientific, technological, cultural and social relevance, methodological rigor, quality of writing and organization of the text, in addition to the quantity and quality of publications resulting from the work.
