The Attorney General's Office (PG) of Unicamp has notified the company C4 Científica Brazil Importação e Exportação Ltda. to immediately cease using the University's name in any advertising material—electronic or physical—under penalty of appropriate legal action. The University states that it has no connection with the company or the implementation of the greenhouse project, as was previously reported on its LinkedIn account. On this account, the company falsely claims to have a partnership with the University in a project to implement a high-performance research greenhouse for plant phenotyping.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the Provost's Office for Research reported that after consulting Unicamp's teaching, research, and extension units, as well as interdisciplinary research centers and centers, "no link was identified with the development of the product or research mentioned, nor any partnership with the company C4 Científica. According to the Provost's Office, the same occurred with the Provost's Office for Graduate Studies, which reported no link with the company."
For the PG, the unauthorized use of Unicamp's name is a matter of concern, with the potential to undermine its institutional reputation and scientific credibility, in addition to representing a risk to consumers, who may be misled as to the origin and legitimacy of the product or service.
