The 2025 Unicamp Institutional Awards ceremony took place this Friday, December 12th. A total of 74 awards were distributed: 23 professors received the "Zeferino Vaz" Academic Recognition Award; 24 received the Teaching Recognition Award for Dedication to Undergraduate Teaching; and 22 received the Proeec University Extension Award. Also awarded were one Academic Recognition Award for Researchers in the Research Career, two Teaching Recognition Awards for Dedication to Secondary Technical Teacher Training, and two Student Recognition Awards for Performance in their Technical Training from Unicamp's Technical Colleges (Cotil and Cotuca).
The rector of Unicamp, Paulo Cesar Montagner, highlighted that the award transcends individual merit, as it symbolizes the institutional project of the University. “The 'Zeferino Vaz' Award, which honors our founder, has a particularly emblematic meaning. Our first rector understood that the consolidation of a research university requires a highly qualified faculty, committed to high standards of research and teaching. This award perpetuates that vision,” he commented.

Montagner also highlighted the importance of the awards dedicated to undergraduate studies, research and outreach, and technical colleges. “These recognitions emphasize the valuable dimensions of this large complex of university work. In undergraduate studies, we reward pedagogical practices that promote not only the transmission of knowledge, but also the development of critical skills and civic education,” he stated.
“In research, we recognize the original production of knowledge, which expands disciplinary boundaries and strengthens Unicamp's position as a university of research excellence, and in outreach, we value initiatives that materialize this social commitment of ours as a University, establishing dialogues with the community,” the rector highlighted.
“It is essential that the award ceremony takes place every year to recognize the people who have excelled. The work of our professionals is central to building an intellectual environment capable of addressing complex issues,” he added.
The general coordinator of Unicamp, Fernando Coelho, emphasized that the award reaffirms the academic excellence of the University. “It’s a day of celebration for all of us, a day of recognition. In the recent past, there was only the 'Zeferino Vaz' Award, but today, with a significant increase in awards for teaching, research and extension activities, as well as for technical colleges, we clearly highlight our qualities,” he stated.
