Technical colleges' conference discusses pedagogical training.

The third edition of the event brings together 152 professors from Cotuca and Cotil.

The third edition of the Pedagogical Training Workshop for Unicamp's Technical Colleges began this Wednesday (February 4th) at the Barão Geraldo campus of Unicamp. It brings together teachers from the Campinas Technical College (Cotuca) and the Limeira Technical College (Cotil) for two days of exchanging experiences on topics such as curriculum, training, and institutional integration. The event, promoted by the University's Executive Directorate of Basic and Technical Education (Deeduc), concludes on Thursday (February 5th) at the Limeira campus.

“We have approximately 3.500 students and 165 teachers across the two schools. For this event, we have 152 teachers registered, which shows a very significant level of participation,” says Cristiane Megid, executive director of Deeduc.

Megid points out that the event originated in 2023, during the restructuring of Deeduc. “We formed a permanent commission and understood that integration between schools was fundamental, as well as improving pedagogical work and debating student retention. The first edition took place in August 2024 and the second in February 2025. From then on, the event became part of the schools' calendar, always before the start of classes,” she states.

In this edition, the focus is on integrated curricula, which, according to the director, have become a significant challenge after the 2025 high school reform. "We will also work more directly on the integration of schools with university services, an important development from last year, in addition to discussing self-assessment within the evaluation and self-regulation process," she adds.

Megid added that, starting with this edition, there will be activities throughout the year, in monthly meetings, "always with themes that broaden the integration between teachers from schools and the University."

Professor Arnaldo Pinto Júnior, who represented Rector Paulo Cesar Montagner at the opening ceremony, highlighted the importance of initiatives that promote dialogue about teaching practices. “Creating spaces for encounter and reflection on the curriculum and knowledge is fundamental to strengthening pedagogical training and teacher identity, especially in the face of contemporary challenges.”

The Director-General of Cotil, Marcelo Dotti, also emphasized the closer relationship between the technical colleges. “We are sister colleges, with our own identities, but with much in common. And Unicamp is the great institution that houses us,” he stated. According to him, despite the specificities of each unit, the integration strengthens the work and expands the possibilities for cooperation between the teams.

Professor Cíntia Kimie Aihara Nicoletti, associate director of Cotuca, highlighted the importance of the event as a space for reflection on pedagogical practices. According to her, moments like this allow teachers to reflect on their role as educators. “Despite the differences between the schools, we have many similarities and we can move forward together,” she affirms. “I often say that we can be like a large anthill: if each one does a little, we will build something great. With the two schools united, we seek excellence as schools of Unicamp.”
