The University Prefecture launched this Monday (2) a campaign that aims to raise awareness among drivers to respect traffic rules on the Unicamp campus in Campinas. From March 2 to 13, drivers who commit traffic violations will be warned with a “moral fine”. During this period, agents will provide guidance on traffic rules, especially those related to illegal parking and the occupation of spaces reserved for the elderly and people with disabilities.
The inspection was carried out for about two hours in areas such as Rua Seis de Agosto, Rua Roxo Moreira, Rua Josué de Castro, and Avenida Oswaldo Cruz. In just over half an hour of inspection, at least 50 vehicles received the "moral fine," all for illegal parking. This Tuesday, inspections will be carried out on Rua Alexander Fleming, Rua Carlos Chagas, Rua Vital Brasil, and Rua Albert Sabin. In this case, the checks will take place between 13 PM and 15 PM (see the complete schedule below).
The awareness campaign involves approaching the university community with educational agents from the Municipal Development Company of Campinas (Emdec) and professionals from the Secretariat of Campus Life (SVC). For two weeks, on weekdays, a "moral fine" will be affixed to vehicles parked illegally, with guidance on traffic laws and the proper use of parking spaces.
Informational leaflets will also be distributed and banners will be installed at strategic points. A message alluding to the campaign will be displayed on the arch located at the entrance of the University.

Notices
The University Administration warns, however, that effective enforcement will begin on March 16th, with the possibility of issuing tickets to vehicles when urban mobility agents observe situations such as illegal parking and improper use of designated parking spaces. According to Emdec, enforcement will occur at points where there is regulated vertical and horizontal signage. If necessary, the agency will suggest adjustments to the area's signage.
According to data from the Secretariat for Campus Life (SVC), the Unicamp campus in Campinas receives 80 people per day, in addition to registering the circulation of 40 vehicles.
The educational materials emphasize the following behaviors:
- Respect the exclusive parking spaces dedicated to the elderly and people with disabilities: to use them, it is mandatory to use the physical or digital credential (issued via the Digital Traffic Wallet).
- Parking and stopping: respect the signage (regulated areas) and parking space markings; never park in prohibited areas (on pedestrian crossings or sidewalks, obstructing accessibility ramps or vehicle exits).
- Priority to pedestrians: respect at crosswalks.
