Summary
“The construction of this period is quite different from one author to another, but there are common characteristics. Everyone highlights the fact that former slaves did not receive any type of reparation from the State, which caused enormous difficulties in their integration into society. But none of the authors incorporates into their works the contributions of more recent historiography, elaborated mainly in Unicamp [Universidade Estadual de Campinas], which sought to understand the survival strategies adopted by black people in the post-abolition period,” said Garrid.
