A master's degree research developed through an agreement between the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) points to the Federal University of Paraná as second in number of technology deposits environmental issues, second only to Unicamp. The study is based on the analysis of patent documents related to green technologies, filed by 21 Brazilian public universities.
