Summary
In December, the Foundation announced the creation of the Center for Research in Genomics Applied to Climate Change, in partnership with Embrapa, based at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). The Center's mission is to generate biotechnological assets that increase plant resistance to drought and heat and transfer technologies to the production sector. Using genomic and genetic strategies and tools such as genetic engineering and genome editing and microbiome studies, the Center will create and manage pipelines of transgenic, genetically edited plants, among other activities.
