"It is worth noting that the age of the Piratininga structure is relatively estimated in the Cretaceous period, post-Serra Geral and pre-Bauru basaltic magmatism (135 to 95 million years), based on the stratigraphic window found in the structure. The Chicxulub Crater is dated also from the end of the Cretaceous, but within 65 million years", explains the professor-doctor at Unicamp Carlos Roberto de Souza Filho.
