The various activities that make up what we call circus today do not have a single place or date of birth. “There is no single circus. It was and always will be an art of multiple origins and influences, present in almost all cultures”, says Marco Antonio Bortoleto, doctor in Physical Education and circus arts researcher at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp).
