Summary
When the feminist movement emerged at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, its main cause was women's right to vote. During this period, to revive women's spirits, the first major fashion and entertainment magazines emerged, such as Harper's Bazaar (1867) and Vogue (1894). "These publications brought illustrations and cartoons about new ways of thinking and living everyday life", says Patrícia Sant'Anna, professor of fashion history at Unicamp. The person who best represented this changing woman was the American graphic artist Charles Dana Gibson.
