BNDES' efforts yielded results, according to electrical engineer Jacobus Swart, professor at Feec-Unicamp. “Brazil is doing well in terms of design houses and encapsulation companies, but we are far from having a foundry capable of producing wafers. The two companies created in recent years in the country with this objective, the state-owned Ceitec and the private Unitec, are facing difficulties”, says Swart.
