A success at the Brazilian box office, the film presents the trajectory of German communist Olga Benário, who, after fleeing to Moscow, falls in love with Brazilian communist leader Luís Carlos Prestes. Benário and Prestes are sent to Brazil to lead a socialist revolution during the Vargas Era. However, the fiasco of the revolution results in the couple's arrest. Olga is deported to Nazi Germany and executed in a concentration camp. "A nonconformist woman facing a dictatorship, in an emotional film", explains Pedro Paulo A.
