Summary

According to a study presented in Unicamp, in 2007, by engineer Luiz Fernando de Melo Correia, the greater the rigidity of the rail structure, the more resistant the railway becomes. “Irregularities on the rail surfaces can generate oscillations, shocks and vibrations that can lead to the appearance of defects in other track structures.”
