Summary

Thermal insulation is essential for exposed slabs, as it prevents radiation and heat from passing from the external environment to the internal environment. In non-exposed roofs, insulation is not essential, but it also has advantages. “In the case of unexposed roofs and slabs, it is advisable to thermally insulate them, depending on the local climate. In hot regions, heat is kept outside the environment, and in cold regions, inside, avoiding spending on air conditioning devices”, explains Nixon Cesar de Andrade, doctor in civil engineering from the Unicamp.
