Summary

Between 1870 and 1910, Brazil was the world's largest producer of latex, the raw material for rubber. Today, we occupy 10th place and current production cannot meet domestic demand. A survey of the Unicamp, however, wants to accelerate genetic improvement to generate more resistant and productive trees and, who knows, lead to self-sufficiency again.
