For transport master Creso de Franco Peixoto, professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Unicamp (Universidade Estadual de Campinas), the reduction could mean that drivers are more afraid of fines, but it could also be the result of a smaller number of vehicles on the streets. This is because, according to the professor, the end of the year, when fines skyrocketed, is a period of greater commercial activity and more intense flow. “Some influence from the presence of radars is happening, this is notable, it means the fear of being caught, but it does not mean that you are aware that you cannot run”, says Peixoto.
