Summary

Creso de Franco Peixoto, transport specialist and professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Unicamp (Universidade Estadual de Campinas), states that reducing the width of the lanes can increase the probability of side collisions, which is why the speed on the stretch must be reduced. He also points out that, if the lanes have to be of different sizes, the middle one should be the widest, as there will be traffic on both sides differently than in the outer lanes.
