A whole week of free artistic performances marks the programming of FEIAvinte, Festival of the Unicamp Arts Institute
From October 6th to 13th, the twentieth edition of FEIA, Festival of the Unicamp Arts Institute (State University of Campinas) takes place. FEIAvinte will occupy several spaces in the city, such as Estação Cultura, Praça do Coco and Maloca Arte e Cultura, in addition to the university itself.
Created in 2000, FEIA is organized by students from Unicamp's Institute of Arts (IA), with the aim of disseminating diverse artistic productions and democratically promoting training actions (such as workshops) in the arts. This year, FEIAvinte presents activities in three periods – morning, afternoon and evening – during the eight days of programming, all free and open to the public in Campinas and the region.
There will be a total of 27 workshops, 30 musical performances, 9 performing arts shows, 5 dance shows, three visual arts and photography exhibitions, 5 conversation circles with guests, 2 interdisciplinary shows, an independent publications fair, a short film exhibition -films, a soirée, and other diverse activities such as a parade, collective construction of a panel, and nighttime programs.
Among the highlights of this year's program is Ava Rocha, opening the festival with her show Trança, visual artist Denilson Baniwa in a debate panel on indigenous art, Espírito Santo artist Castiel Vitorino giving a workshop, and singer and composer Maria Beraldo finishing the week at Estação Cultura with his show Cavala.
FEIAvinte proposes a crossroads space: where different trajectories intersect at a common meeting point. Symbolically, the crossroads is never an end but a starting point into a new unknown. The autonomous organization of the festival wishes to see itself as part of an increasingly plural 'we', reaffirming its existence in a critical way, strengthening and reinventing the space of the public university that has been suffering from funding cuts that threaten its existence.
Over the last 20 years, the festival has stood out for welcoming the most diverse forms of artistic and independent expression. In this twentieth edition, FEIAvinte has simultaneous interpretation in LIBRAS and audio description in some presentations duly marked in the program, and also with tactile resources in some visual arts exhibitions.
