Under rain at the Swift campus of Universidade Paulista (Unip), in Campinas (SP), candidates for a place at Unicamp participated today (17/01) in the third day of tests in the second phase of the Vestibular. They took the natural sciences tests: biology, chemistry and physics. Student Nathália Isabella dos Santos Rodrigues, 18 years old, says that her passion for a career in chemistry awakened when, at the age of 8, she received a toy called alchemy from her godmother in which she could carry out chemical experiments. “From then on I fell in love. I tried four times until I got into the technical course and, now, I'm trying the technological chemistry course at Unicamp. I am very persistent.”
Daughter of salespeople from Campinas, Nathália recognizes that the rain was much more conducive to a day of peace and rest at home. “But you have to chase your dream. So far the tests were relatively easy, I think I did well overall. Today, expectations are good, with chemistry and physics tests. As I already have a technical course in chemistry, I hope this can help. I chose Unicamp because I live in Campinas, but mainly because it is the most reputable, in short, the best”, she summarizes.
For a more viable place on a higher education course, Eunice Costa de Lima, aged 20, had to postpone her dream of becoming a doctor at Unicamp. “After three years trying medicine without success, I said: 'let's try something less competitive and where I have a little more knowledge. I’m taking chemistry now.”
A resident of Indaiatuba (SP), Eunice says that the need for a higher education course and a job was more important at this time. “I need to get a job. Having a higher education degree opens many doors in this sense. Later on, I will return to my dream of medicine. I have liked medicine since I was little, I really identified with it, it has always been a passion in my life. I’m taking chemistry because I did the technical course, I like the area and for some reason I thought it was related to medicine.”
From Juiz de Fora (MG), Lucas Herdy, 19 years old, is trying for the first time for a place on the electrical engineering course at Unicamp. “The first day of the tests was very calm. Yesterday was tougher, especially in the geography and history tests, areas in which I'm not very good. And today are the natural science tests. I really like physics and chemistry. Biology not so much, but I think it can be passed”, he reveals.
“When I went to high school, I studied industrial mechanics as a technician. The areas of automation and circuitry were the ones I liked most. Therefore, as the areas were more electrically focused, I ended up choosing this course. And I chose Unicamp because of the University’s reputation and also because of the Campinas technopole.”
André Batista de Lima, 23 years old, is also taking the Unicamp entrance exam for the first time. A resident of Santa Bárbara Doeste (SP), he is competing for a place on the visual arts course. “I really like the arts: music, theater, dance, modeling. I've done a little bit of everything. My expectation, if I pass the entrance exam, is to learn a lot. I think it's going to be fantastic. And maybe one day I’ll do performing arts too, which I think is really cool.”
