The Edgard Leuenroth Archive (AEL) participated, as a collaborator of the Education Memory Center (CME), in the project “Memory of Education and Archive: preservation/conservation of the Malba Tahan collection”, part of Science & Art in the Holidays 2017 at Unicamp . It offered a document restoration workshop, which was held between the 9th and 13th of January, when it presented to the enrolled students, Lohany Santana Leiroz and Gabriela de Faria Tchin, the different techniques and materials of the paper restoration process as well as the functioning of the institution .
For Denise Gonçalves, archivist at CME, the project “Memory of Education and Archive: preservation/conservation of the Malba Tahan collection” helps to raise awareness among students about the importance of document preservation/conservation work for historical memory. Castorina Madureira, supervisor of the AEL Preservation and Diffusion Section, believes that the interaction between archives and memory centers and the participation of the community outside Unicamp also helps to publicize the AEL and its collection, expanding its social function.
