Professor José Tomaz Vieira Pereira, from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, is the guest of the program Scientific Memory, commemorative edition of Unicamp's fiftieth anniversary. He arrived at the University in the 1970s, a period when the Faculty of Engineering was located on Rua Culto à Ciência.
Tomaz saw the birth of the campus and the transformations that have occurred in the last forty years. He participated in student movements, and, in a political universe, was part of the first Adunicamp formation team. His interview covers notable passages in our history, such as Zeferino's succession, the intervention at Unicamp and the strengthening of class entities. In addition to being an activist and an engineer, he also reveals the trajectory of a simple man, coming from the countryside, having obtained his first job in the “big city” as a office boy, until books gave him a better destiny. Scientific Memory, produced by TV Unicamp, is directed by sociologist Marcelo Rocco. Check it out here
