Between dreams and anxieties, approximately 3 thousand students were on Tuesday morning (21) at Unicamp's various faculties and institutes to enroll. Their eyes shone with the emotion of conquest and butterflies in their stomachs were commonplace, when thinking about the news that awaits them. Coming from the four corners of the country, the freshmen went through the many stages of one of the most competitive entrance exams in the country, with courses with up to 221 candidates per place, such as medicine. Those approved in the first two lists of the Unicamp Entrance Exam were the hosts of the party today.
Marcelo Meneguesso, 18 years old, was the first student to enroll at the Institute of Arts (IA). “A little anxious, almost nothing”, he says with a laugh. He will study a Bachelor's degree in cello. Marcelo studied at the Antônio Alves Aranha State School, in Valinhos, and says that he has always seen the cello as a profession, since he started playing, at 13 years old. In addition to his curricular studies, he prepared for the Unicamp entrance exam with lessons on his instrument and music theory. Today, he feels welcomed and honored by his veterans. “They are very helpful. As soon as I arrived, they gave me everything I needed: booklets, handouts, what to do, where to ask for housing. They want the freshmen well. It’s as good as it gets,” he says.
The Ferreira Venâncio family came together to enroll Anna Flavia in the medical course. “Everyone came, even the dog,” says the proud father. Alcides, who is a retired firefighter, praises his daughter's dedication “We would go to the ranch, to the riverbank, for a barbecue and she would sit aside and read. She was studying”. Anna Flavia attended high school at Etec in Araçatuba. She says that the inspiration for choosing her career came from a consultation at the ophthalmologist, “I fell in love, I wanted to be an ophthalmologist. I started researching medicine. Now I don’t even know if I want ophthalmology, because there are so many areas and I like everything.” Read more about enrollment at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM).
