Researchers from the Crânio-Face Brazil Project, from the Department of Genetics at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) at Unicamp, participated in the development of facial recognition software for rare genetic syndromes, such as DiGeorge Velocardiofacial Syndrome, known for causing cleft lip and palate, popularly called cleft lip.
The software was developed by researchers Paul Kruszka and Maxmillian Muenke at the National Human Genome Research Institute in the United States, and included the participation of researchers from other countries. The results have just been published in the American Journal of Medical Genetics.
