For animator Wilson Lazaretti, the process of artistic creation has seven phases: restlessness, the search for a working instrument, the acquisition of knowledge, the development of an idea, a language, the creation of the work itself and finally reflection on the finished work. All these steps are in the animated film “History Before a Story”, the first feature film by Lazaretti, director of the Center for Animated Cinema (NCA) in Campinas and professor at the Institute of Arts (IA) at Unicamp. The film will have a premiere this Tuesday, 16th, at Instituto CPFL.
The character in the film is Dr K, an old man who really likes to walk and one day finds a pencil and paper along the way. In the company of three other characters, Dr. K learns about the world of animation. According to Lazaretti, in Brazil, since the 1950s, less than thirty animated features have been released. “The Boy and the World”, by Alê Abreu, released in 2013, won the Annie Awards, considered the "Oscar of animation" in the best independent animation category, in addition to competing for the Oscar itself.
The score for Lazaretti's film, composed by Paulo Howlands, features songs performed by Elza Soares (listen) and Ná Ozetti who also lend their voices to two characters. The Unicamp Symphony Orchestra recorded the movie theme song, under the regency of Cinthia Alireti. The film was produced by the Campinas Animation Center and took 13 years to complete. After the screening at CPFL there will be a debate with the author.
