Developed at Unicamp, suture thread allows faster healing

Researchers from the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) at Unicamp have developed a suture thread that allows faster healing of the skin and which could, in the future, be used in medical procedures such as plastic surgery, treatment of burns, fistulas and in patients with Crohn's, among other illnesses that require specific treatments for healing and regeneration by repairing the affected tissue. The technology was recently licensed on a non-exclusive basis by Fawke, a company pre-incubated at the Unicamp Technology-Based Business Incubator (Incamp) and, initially, should be tested in veterinary clinics, in procedures carried out on domestic animals .
