July is a time for vacation and rest for many teachers, students and staff. But even in this period, the university lives. Whether in laboratories, with experiments that cannot stop, or enjoying the common spaces, the movement around the campus is remarkable. And, often, from people who are not very used to the academic environment, but want to spend their holidays learning science. At the Physics Institute (IFGW), there are courses in several areas for high school students. The Exploratory Science Museum (MC) is also preparing to receive audiences of various ages, with special and dynamic programming about Darwin (including exhibition in the Central Library) and botany. For those who wish to delve deeper into Humanities, the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences (IFCH) launches, on the 10th, the São Paulo School of Advanced Science in Methodology, with short courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. But if your vacation is for sport, there are extension courses at the Faculty of Physical Education in bodybuilding, martial arts and physical conditioning.
Art is highlighted this month
Several art exhibitions are on the Barão Geraldo campus, in Campinas, some new and still in the assembly phase. Photos taken in Mozambique and South America portray the daily lives of the countries. Culture is also the focus of the exhibition “We are all immigrants”, which addresses refugees at the university. The exhibition program also includes the Café da Casa do Professor Visitante (CPV), with collage and surrealist monotypes.
The Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA), in Limeira, also chose to maintain the Cine Vagalume program. Sessions take place in the afternoon and evening on different dates (check it out!), with children's films and Pernambuco cinema.
