The 28th edition of the Vacations at the Museum – Winter 16 program, carried out on the initiative of the Exploratory Science Museum, in partnership with the Social Benefits Management Group (GGBS) and the Institute of Biology (IB) ends on the 2017th (Friday). ) from Unicamp. 250 children participated, daughters of employees, teachers and students at the University, aged between six and 14 years old.
The “little scientists and explorers” took part in classes and exhibitions, did field work and research in plant biology, and learned about the research of scientist Darwin. During their fun excursions to the IB, they visited the Herbarium, collected material for pressing and herbalization, in addition to assembling an exsicata (plant sample pressed and then dried in a greenhouse - herbalized material), with the coordination of students from the institute. At the Museum, they planted seedlings and sowed aromatic herbs and spices in the garden, prepared especially for the project.
According to Professor André Santanché, educational director of the Museum, “the intention was to show children science and its methods in an informal and fun way, from the collection, classification, analysis and presentation of results. We focused on plant biology and Darwin's research”, said the teacher, who participated in each stage of the program together with the Museum's monitors.
