The 18th edition of the Talento Unicamp recruitment fair takes place this Tuesday (15), until 20 pm, in a tent set up in the parking lot of the Cesar Lattes Central Library. Organized by the Unicamp Junior Companies Center, the event brings together 43 exhibitors, ranging from large Brazilian and multinational companies with offices and plants in the Campinas region, to new startups linked to technology development. Students will be presented with information about internship vacancies, trainees and selection opportunities for future vacancies. In addition to the company stands, lectures and workshops will be held for visitors.
The president of the Center, Carla Chiachia de Oliveira, a third-year food engineering student, explains that in this edition the organization of the event implemented some new features to favor the recruitment activities of participants by companies. Pitch workshops are being held where students will present themselves to recruiters for three minutes, and the analysis and review of CVs. “We want a more dynamic fair, where candidates don't just stop by the stands and learn about the selection processes, but are already integrated into the processes”, explains Carla.
Present at the launch of Talento, on Monday night (14), the dean of Unicamp Marcelo Knobel assesses that each year the fair has been growing and improving, and offers the opportunity to bring together companies interested in recruiting new talent and students looking for of vacancies in the job market. “It is an important event that is part of the learning process for the students who work in junior companies, and Unicamp is very proud to support it”, declared Marcelo Knobel, highlighting the need for the university to be able to help with the event.
For the first time at the fair, Brazilian urban transport startup 99 recently signed a partnership with Unicamp's Nucleus of Junior Companies that go beyond Talento. For Danilo Venturi, representative of 99, it is important to present the culture of startups to the university public. "We intend to strengthen relations with Unicamp. Talento is a gateway to get to know Unicamp, and to show ourselves to the university public in Campinas", says Danilo. “As we look like a startup, we don’t have well-defined selection processes throughout the year. We have vacancies in the areas of finance and marketing, but we came to get to know the public and what strengths we can find here, and then plan specific programs for Unicamp”.
Belgian multinational Mars Petcare returned to Talento to present its selection processes and job vacancies to visitors. Mars' recruitment and selection coordinator, Gisele Tuckmantel, explains that for the company it is essential to show its differences as an employer brand for Unicamp students, both internships and permanent vacancies. "Talento is strategic in our relationship with universities. For us, Unicamp students are very important, as they make up a large part of the interns and have a large number of permanent employees."
On the other side - Currently working as an exhibitor for Mars, food engineering student at Unicamp Maria Isabel says that she got her internship at the company through the 2016 edition of the Talento fair. But before participating as a candidate, she also participated in the organization of Talento 2014 as a member of the junior company of the Faculty of Food Engineering. “Talent is important for creating contacts. In the first year I didn't know where I could work. Having contact and talking to the representatives helped me get to know the companies and think about a career plan”, explains Maria Isabel.
