At the invitation of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies (PRG) at Unicamp, professor Valdes Roberto Bollela, from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto at the University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP), was this Monday (11), at the Espaço de Support for Teaching and Learning (EA)² from Unicamp, to talk about teaching and learning strategies in higher education. The event was part of the SCHEDULE RenovaGrad which aims to support teachers, course coordinators and unit directors in the process of renewing undergraduate courses. “Our objective is for all courses to reflect on how their teaching process is going”, he stated. the dean of undergraduate studies Eliana Amaral.
During the lecture, Bollela highlighted the importance of selecting the content that will be presented to students, focusing on the essentials. “The teacher needs to make choices and try to make more time available for reflection and discussion,” she explained. According to him, it is in this space that students discover their potential and their ability to solve problems. “We know the theoretical class very well, which is a strategy that has its value, with advantages and limitations. But there are several other resources available that are still very little used and there is evidence that they can contribute a lot to the training of students”, explained Bollela.

For the dean, it is essential that the faculty prepare and constantly update themselves regarding teaching practices. With this objective, the (EA)² carries out regular training and debate activities, providing teachers with a space for support, learning and discussion. "O (EA)² it's ours teachers' room. It is the place where teaching staff should bring their doubts and difficulties, a space that is often not easy to find in their day-to-day routine”, highlighted Amaral.
