At the head of one of the universities with the greatest scientific production in the country, and the best placed in Latin America in the 2017 Times Higher Education international ranking, the rector of Unicamp (State University of Campinas), Marcelo Knobel, aged 49, classifies the crisis financial institution as one of the worst in its history.
In the position for less than six months, with a mandate until 2021, Knobel currently manages the university with 100% of the revenue committed to paying approximately 8.000 employees. Thus, the resources for funding (maintenance) of the institution have come from a financial reserve that has been decreasing year by year and will be exhausted in 2018, if the current scenario persists.
