With a project aimed at teaching basic finances to children and teenagers, the Economicus Team, from Colégio Técnico Industrial Professor Isaac Portal Roldán, in Bauru, was the winner of the Inova Jovem 2017 Program. The team's students developed a platform that allows, for Through fun activities, encourage young people to save, in addition to raising awareness about the good use of money. And, with this, disseminate basic concepts of the financial universe, such as tax obligations and investments.
“Now, we want to implement our proposal in other schools and schools and take it to other cities, so that other people can learn about and use the tool”, says Déborah Domeneghetti de Francisco, member of the Economicus team.
In the opinion of the computer technician student, one of the greatest contributions of the Inova Jovem Program is precisely the dissemination of entrepreneurial culture among young people. “Our school already has a subject focused on the subject. Many schools already have activities focused on entrepreneurship, but there is still very little,” she points out. In addition to her, the winning team is made up of Felipe Urso Parreira Pinto, Gabriel Rocha Guimarães, Luca Kiatake Creppe and Matheus Fortunato das Mercês.
The final of the Inova Jovem Program was held on November 9th, in the CDC auditorium at Unicamp. On that occasion, the public was able to see the pitches of the six finalists up close. The Tesla teams, from ETEC Lauro Gomes; GLKCT and MEDme, both from Colégio Técnico de Campinas (Cotuca); PD&CCD, from the Technical College of Limeira (Cotil); and Vita Gazi, from Colégio Embraer – Casimiro Montenegro Filho.
In 2017, the competition became open to students from technical schools and regular high schools across Brazil. This year, 271 students, from 45 cities, participated in the Innovation Workshop, the first step towards training participants in the competition.
Professor Marcelo Knobel highlighted the record numbers achieved by the initiative. “The competition is increasingly difficult. For those who are participating, this is bad, but for Unicamp, this is great”, he says. In Knobel's opinion, it is important that, from an early age, students are already familiar with the entrepreneurial universe. “The idea is to have this seed of entrepreneurship planted forever. We want you here, in the future, as Unicamp students”, he reveals.
Professor Newton Frateschi, executive director of the Inova Unicamp Innovation Agency, also recalled that it is necessary to increasingly invest in initiatives that encourage an entrepreneurial outlook in the school curriculum. “This type of initiative is lacking in basic education”, he reiterates. Regarding the future of the competition, Frateschi is emphatic: “we expect even greater numbers in the coming years. So, take part in the competition again and invite your friends and colleagues to participate too”, he invites.
