“Momento Memória” recovers the history of the São Paulo Federation of Men of Color

At the beginning of the 20th century, the city of Campinas was the scene of important achievements by the black community, which sought in different ways to confront the problems and prejudices inherited from the slavery period.

While quilombos were strongly fought against, the Irmandade São Benedito, linked to the Catholic Church, was the first entity in the city to accept black members.
