The Permanent Forum “Aesthetics of Resistance: Africanities and Diasporic Narratives” closed the season of the 2017 series, on November 28, at the Unicamp Convention Center. Organized by professor at the Institute of Arts (IA) Gilberto Alexandre Sobrinho, the event proposed a reflection on diversity within the panorama of visual arts and cinema. The debate added a decolonial vision, built from aesthetic thinking and artistic practices and processes that comprise the modes of existence, resistance, survival and creation of Afro-descendant art.
The series of Permanent Forums events will continue next year, with some reformulations and new proposals. The deadline for submitting proposals is the end of February, when an interdisciplinary judging committee will define the themes of the next meetings, said Fernando Hashimoto, vice-rector of Extension and Community Affairs (Preac) at Unicamp.
