The health sector took first place in the PAEPE 2017 Career Professionals Award given this Wednesday afternoon (6), in the auditorium of the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM). The winning project “Implementation of a Sepsis management protocol: reduction of mortality at UER-HC-Unicamp” was developed by a multidisciplinary team with the implementation of a modification in the Emergency Unit of the Hospital de Clínicas, to serve patients more quickly. patients with more serious infectious conditions.
“We take the patient out of the normal care queue and immediately take care of them, taking measures to reduce mortality”, stated the UER division director, Marcos Roberto da Silva, one of the two representatives of the team who went to receive the award. The protocol created by the group reduced the start of medication administration from six hours to up to 49 minutes.
Second place in the PAEPE Award went to one of the bodies of the General Coordination of the University (CGU), with the project “Towards the Digital University: Computerized Document Archival Management System – SIGAD/Unicamp”. Third place went to Interdisciplinary Centers and Nuclei with the project “Application of an Automatic Fault Analyzer for Electronic Boards”.
The first prize was presented by the rector of Unicamp Marcelo Knobel. He praised the diversity of areas recognized and recalled that the honor was maintained, despite the university's budget crisis. This year the institutional awards did not offer cash values. “It is a difficult reality that we are living in and we have many things to improve. We in the administration are convinced that the only way we can achieve this is by improving processes with the effective participation of everyone.” Knobel said that, beyond their daily lives, employees are dedicated to creating new things and that this needs to be recognized and valued.
The awards event featured the music of the century-old band Lira Itapirense, one of the oldest groups in continuous activity in the country, currently under the direction of maestro Maurício Perina. The band, with a slightly smaller lineup, came to play for the first time at Unicamp.
