Candidates for a place in the Visual Arts and Performing Arts courses, both offered by Unicamp's Institute of Arts (IA), began this Monday morning (22) the entrance exams. specific skills. In both cases, the applicants first took a theoretical exam. In the afternoon and over the next two days they would still undergo practical tests. The objective of the assessments is to assess the level of knowledge and skills of future professionals in relation to the career they have chosen.
The theoretical test for candidates for the Visual Arts course took place at IA itself. According to Professor Sylvia Furegatti, coordinator of the work, the exam questions revolved around the History of Art in Brazil and around the world. “Afterwards, candidates will also take an Observation Drawing and Graphic Expression test, from which we will evaluate issues such as technique, creativity and perception. Finally, there will be an interview, which is not eliminatory in nature, but can add points to the candidate's final grade”, explained the teacher.
In total, 100 students were invited to test specific skills in Visual Arts, who will compete for the 30 places offered by IA. Professor Silvia Furegatti observes that the field of activity for professionals in the field is broad. In addition to teaching, they can choose to work in public or private institutions dedicated to artistic and cultural dissemination, museums, art galleries, cultural and research productions, among other spaces.
Candidates for the Performing Arts course also began testing specific skills this Monday morning, in classrooms provided by the Computing Institute (IC). According to professor Cassiano Sydow Quilici, coordinator of the exam, entrance exam candidates will also complete three stages before obtaining their final grade. After the written test, they are subjected to a practical observation activity.
This is a class taught by two teachers, from different areas. The first proposes a series of movements to students, while the second monitors their performance. At some point, teachers change roles. The last phase is a stage test, in which candidates perform a brief performance of one of the works suggested in the Entrance Exam notice. The performance can be solo or with a guest. “Our objective is to check the candidate’s knowledge and familiarity with the Performing Arts, but also other aspects, such as their relationship with their own body”, explains Professor Quilici.
Among the fields of activity for professionals in Performing Arts, work as an actor in groups and companies, as a theater instructor in free courses, as a researcher and also as a theater critic stand out.
