The website of National Olympiad in Brazilian History, a project carried out by the History Department at Unicamp, makes 146 lesson plans available free of charge to teachers and interested parties to be used with elementary and high school students.

The materials cover the themes “History of Africa”, “History of Indians” and “Civil-Military Dictatorship”. They were produced by teachers and graduates who participated in three editions of the Training Course promoted annually by ONHB. The available plans are part of a selection of the 50 best from each edition, chosen by a panel of specialist professors from different universities.

Registration is currently open for the 5th edition of the course, 100% online and taking place between March and May this year. The deadline to register is February 18th and the theme will be “Narratives of America: speeches and local dynamics”. (learn more here)

The lesson plans are delivered by participants after completing the course workload and under the guidance of tutors – Unicamp professors, doctoral students and guests. The materials contain objectives of the classroom activity, requirements, forms of assessment, as well as bibliography and various content (videos, reports, music, etc.) that can be worked on with students.

“The History Olympiad’s main objective is to promote the learning of this subject. To this end, we created a course that provides the opportunity for training and access to new knowledge for teachers and other interested parties. And, by making the best plans available, we seek to contribute to the teaching practice and classroom activities of teachers across the country”, said ONHB coordinator, Cristina Meneguello.
