The Dean of Undergraduate Studies (PRG) promoted this Thursday morning (1st) the II Unicamp Undergraduate Course Assessment Workshop. The event, which was attended by course coordinators and associate coordinators, sparked discussions on the topic in teaching and research units. According to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Professor Eliana Amaral, the University's objective is for the changes necessary to advance undergraduate teaching activities to be implemented over the next two years, in line with Unicamp's Strategic Project.
The meeting took place on the premises of the Teaching and Learning Support Space (EA2), a body linked to PRG and whose mission is to contribute to improving the quality of undergraduate education. In the first round of discussions of the day, coordinators and associate coordinators had the opportunity to express their impressions about an evaluation tool for course recognition updated last December by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research “Anísio Teixeira” (Inep ).
According to professor Eliana Amaral, the tool is being used to guide the process of reflection on the need to promote a review of curricula and teaching methods in undergraduate courses. The instrument is based on three axes: Didactic-Pedagogical Organization, Faculty and Tutorial and Infrastructure. “From now on, each teaching and research unit must promote, with the support of coordinators, a self-evaluation of its undergraduate teaching activities, considering these three dimensions. They will then prepare reports with their diagnoses”, he details.
In the meantime, the director continues, the PRG will visit faculties and institutes to discuss the issue, while EA2 will develop preparatory activities related to both the evaluation and implementation phase of the likely changes. “We have important points to discuss, which include access, retention and academic success of undergraduate students. Our purpose is to promote reflection on the pedagogical projects of the courses and their teaching strategies, in order to make Unicamp's undergraduate courses gain even more quality”, said professor Eliana Amaral.
