Unicamp received this Monday (19) the new students called in the second call for the 2018 entrance exam. They came to enroll in person for their courses this morning and ended up receiving a more than welcoming reception in the different teaching and research units of the university. University. 

The Faculty of Education (FE) Reception Committee, made up of more than 20 students, left nothing lacking. He festively welcomed all those entering the Pedagogy course and the Chemistry and Physics Degrees. The committee prepared snacks and provided information to interested parties. Liz Amaral, a fourth-year Pedagogy student who is part of the unit's academic center, said that the focus this year was the students, but also the parents. “That's because for many of them these first months are scary. That is why Unicamp has sought to show that this process can become less painful and can be shared.”

Alex Menezes, also from the FE reception committee, revealed that, based on the candidates' contact on Facebook, the veterans had the idea of ​​creating a WhatsApp group to exchange information. “It’s working well in these first moments. We want to be points of support for these freshmen”, he explained.

FE is promoting a welcome program for new students that includes competitions and social gatherings. “We will also have karaoke in the next few days and, later on, a barbecue, which is already a tradition, since this habit was created by educator Paulo Freire”, informed Alex. Jéssica da Silva, from the committee, added that FE has good teachers and that new students can expect a lot of study, but also many friendships and a politically active faculty.

Mariana Lemuchi arrived early to enroll at FE. She came with her three-year-old daughter, Sofia, who proudly carried a sign saluting her freshman mother who wants to be a teacher. Mariana wants to work in the public network, as she understands that there she can contribute qualified knowledge to those who need it most. "I try to have this social conscience because it is my duty as a citizen", she highlighted. 

She studied nutrition at the Federal University of Lavras-MG and, due to her husband's work adjustment, moved to Indaiatuba. Now they are going to make another change: they will come to Campinas, this time to adapt the future pedagogue's studies. "I believe that education should be in all spheres of life. For me, it is the principle and basis of other professions. It is the motivation for health, for safety, for work”, she pointed out.

Chemical Engineering
Professor Antonio Carlos Luz Lisboa, coordinator of the Undergraduate Course at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FEQ), welcomed the students who came to enroll in one of the best courses in the country. He said he has been welcoming parents and students for 22 years. He informed that hazing is prohibited at Unicamp. “I try to tell parents to rest assured that their children are not alone.”

After enrolling, the students received a presentation from the college's associate coordinator, Professor Rafael, about how Unicamp works and its courses. Next, the freshmen had their first contact with members of the Academic Center, Athletics and Junior Companies, who held an exhibition at stands and used music as an attraction to attract these young people.

"The training we provide here is for work in the chemical process industries, but we also have people in the marketing area and those who remain at the University to pursue an academic career", commented Professor Lisboa.

Pedro Santos took a technical course in Chemistry, graduated from the Escola de Sergeants das Armas (ESA) and began studying Mathematics at Unesp-Rio Claro, when he decided to take Chemical Engineering at Unicamp. “I really wanted to come here and be an engineer. This is a very well-regarded University that trains good professionals for the market. I'm already thinking about doing a master's degree, a doctorate here and then going out to work, already with a good education”, he highlighted.

Language
Kátia Tegazzini, supervisor of the IEL Undergraduate Course, highlighted that enrollment went well. According to her, this institute offers courses in Literature, Linguistics and Literary Studies. "These are already established and highly sought after courses", she revealed. 

At IEL, veteran Simonice Chaves went from student to student providing information about the routine at Unicamp. She handed the freshmen the Bixo Guide, which helps new students to have greater mobility on campus and to get to know the bodies dedicated to them. Simonice explained the services that support students at the institution, such as the Community Health Center (Cecom), the Student Psychological and Psychiatric Assistance Service (Sappe) and the Student Support Service (SAE). “I know this is a delicate moment for you, but enjoy it, because our institute is great,” she encouraged.

Stephanie Amorim is 18 years old. She took the Unicamp Entrance Exam for the first time. She was pleasantly surprised. She passed the IEL Linguistics course. She lived in Americana with her family, but now she will live with her grandparents in Sumaré, as it is closer to Unicamp. “Life changes quickly, right?” asks the young woman. The grandfather, who accompanied her, was very proud of his granddaughter. “Stephanie is very studious and deserves this result. She was always hardworking. She was approved at an institution in Belo Horizonte, but there she found out that she passed at Unicamp. She left everything behind. Now it’s just happiness”, he celebrated.

Entrance Examination
The third call for the entrance exam will be announced this Monday (19), until 23:59 pm. Registration for those called up on this list must be completed on February 21st. This year, the Permanent Commission for Unicamp Entrance Exams (Comvest) received a record number of candidates for the entrance exam. There were 83.779 registrants, ten thousand more than the previous year. And Comvest predicts up to 11 calls.
