Unicamp and Cardiff University, United Kingdom, are seeking closer ties. A workshop that started this Monday (5) and runs until Friday (9) in the GGBS (Social Benefits Management Group) auditorium aims precisely at this integration. The aim is to create a partnership to generate innovative and interdisciplinary research related to global challenges.
According to Unicamp's Dean of Research, Munir Skaf, the workshop is being financed by the British Council and Cardiff University. Unicamp's Dean of Research (PRP) was responsible for organizing the meeting, together with the Institute of Geosciences (IG), the Institute of Chemistry (IQ) and the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC), among others. units. The Executive Directorate of International Relations (Deri) offered operational support for the event.

The foreign delegation was made up of 17 professors who met with professors and researchers from Unicamp to find potential opportunities for collaboration in science, in all areas of knowledge, especially motivated by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), a British R fund $7 billion. "This is a program that goes in the same direction as the United Nations for Sustainable Development for developing countries", revealed Munir Skaf.
The dean also said that initially potential partnerships will be found, mutual interests identified and pre-proposals drawn up for possible GCRF funding calls. Another delegation from Cardiff already visited Unicamp in October last year, already interested in establishing more concrete cooperation.

The GCRF promotes notices with several calls, which are currently underway. “Some discussions in the area of sustainable development should emerge from this workshop and, after this event, the intention is to create mobility programs for the exchange of students, researchers, teachers, technical visits, collaborative research and other common activities", said Munir Skaf.
A Cardiff University, founded in 1883, is an international institution with worldwide collaborations and foreign students from more than 100 different countries. The most popular courses for international students include Business, Social Sciences, Engineering and Journalism.
