More than an hour and a half of presentation with exponents of instrumental Brazilian popular music produced and edited by TV Unicamp is the new feature of the week's cultural programming. This is the closing of the Brasil Instrumental Circuit, an event that took place in the auditorium of the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) in October 2017. The concert brought together around 35 musicians – including students, with the group “Breusil Cordas Brasileiras” and “Big Band”, which mainly rescued original arrangements by Pixinguinha, made for Rádio Nacional in Rio de Janeiro in 1945. The repertoire was recovered and released in sheet music by the Moreira Sales Institute. The musical, called “O personal da Velha Guarda – o Buraco no Tempo”, also featured original songs and the participation of personalities, such as saxophonist Roberto Sion, Ricardo Herz with the popular violin, accordion musician Toninho Ferragutti and Neymar Dias, with viola.
According to the professor at the Institute of Arts and organizer of the festival at Unicamp, Esdras Rodrigues, the The objective of the circuit is “to promote instrumental music to the general public and establish an exchange between university music students and renowned names in the Brazilian music scene”, explains the violinist, who also coordinates “Breusil”. In fact, there are three days of immersion for students in workshops, lectures and presentations in various public spaces, with financial support from ProAC (SP Culture Incentive Program). Rodrigues also remembers the origin of Brasil Instrumental, in 2000, led by musicians Paulo Flôres and Paulo Braga, then members of the Tatuí Conservatory. “There has always been a great didactic nature to the project which, in 2013, became itinerant and always honored colleagues from cities in the interior of São Paulo, such as Ourinhos, Botucatu and Marília”, explains the professor.
The TV Unicamp program, which will also air on Canal Universitário in two parts starting next week, was directed by Jorge Calhau; images by João Ricardo Boi, Marcos Botelho Jr, and editing by Kleber Casabblanca and Hanuan Pablo.
