The Unicamp Development Foundation (Funcamp) delivered on Friday (4) the works to expand and improve the Visiting Professor's House (CPV). With the opening of a new building, which has 57 apartments, CPV more than doubled its accommodation capacity, reaching a total of 100 units. The works, which lasted two years, required investments of around R$15 million. “The expansion of the CPV is part of Funcamp’s enormous challenge of offering support to the activities of Unicamp, a highly innovative institution”, stated the Foundation’s executive director, professor Fernando Sarti. The ceremony was attended by members of Unicamp's Senior Management, as well as teachers, students and staff.
According to him, the CPV expansion project was approved by the Funcamp Board of Trustees, in which the University is fully represented. In addition to the new building, added the executive director, the works also included the revitalization of the leisure area and the construction of a water tank with a capacity of 300 thousand liters. “As soon as the current crisis is overcome, Unicamp will be able to resume its growth trajectory and carry out major projects. The expansion of the CPV is an unquestionable demonstration of the Foundation's confidence in an even more promising future for the University”, said Sarti.
Rector Marcelo Knobel highlighted the importance of Funcamp's support for Unicamp's activities, noting that what is good for one party is good for the other as well. “We are increasingly connected. The work carried out by the Foundation is fundamental for the University. An example of this is our health sector, which heavily depends on Funcamp’s support”, he pointed out.
The general coordinator of Unicamp, professor Teresa Atvars, considered the expansion of the CPV as an important moment, which serves to celebrate the success of the management at the head of the Foundation, whose mandate has just ended. She took the opportunity to welcome the new management of Funcamp, whose executive director will be Professor João Batista de Miranda, current superintendent of the Hospital de Clínicas (HC).
The new CPV building has 57 apartments, 42 of which are standard, 5 are PCD (for people with disabilities), 8 are flat and 2 are duplex, the latter equipped with a fitted kitchen and suitable for longer stays. The units offered by CPV are normally occupied by professors and researchers from other institutions (Brazil and abroad) who visit Unicamp to carry out activities related to teaching, research and extension.
