Unicamp is the best placed Latin American representative in a ranking of “middle-aged universities” – the Golden Age University Rankings – published this Wednesday (06) by the British publication Times Higher Education (THE), specializing in higher education.
The ranking is made up of 200 universities, from 44 countries, founded in the post-Second World War period between 1945 and 1967. Unicamp is in 67th position overall, ahead of ten other Latin American universities – one from Colombia , two from Chile and seven from Brazil.
The second best intuition in Latin America in the ranking is the University of the Andes, in Colombia, which is in 91st place. The other representatives of the region were classified between positions number 101 and 150 (three universities, including Federal de Santa Catarina, the best Brazilian after Unicamp) and numbers 151 and 200 (six universities).
This is the second edition of Golden Age University Rankings. The first was published in 2017 and comprised just one hundred universities. At the time, the only Latin American companies classified were Unicamp and the University of the Andes, both in the block between 51st and 100th position.
O Golden Age University Rankings is drawn up based on the same 13 criteria as the THE used to assemble the World University Rankings, one of the most respected global university rankings. The criteria evaluate the performance of universities in four areas: teaching, research, international insertion and interaction with industry.
